This fall MTV offers up another helping of reality TV with the show Disaster Date. The gist is that people who were setup on blind dates that turned out to be nightmares can now get revenge by setting their single friend up with a blind date who in reality is an actor.

Needless to say their job is to make the single friend's life horrific or at least to make their time on the date horrific. The fact that the actor is being fed information from the revenge seeker guarantees that more often than not the date will live up to the shows title.

But you don't need a friend on the warpath to guarantee yourself and the person you are going out with a dating disaster. It happens everyday to regular people and all without the constant glare of a camera crew.

How?

1. Will You Please Take A Breath

You like good conversation but the only problem is the conversation takes place between you and you. You are your best audience and in a way you do not care who knows it. Your date never has a chance to express their opinion on anything. And when they do?

2. How Can One Person So Wrong?

Maybe you do not mean it that way or then again maybe you do. But when your date makes the unforgivable mistake of offering up their point of view and wonder of wonders it does not coincide with your opinion you let them know it in no uncertain terms. And if it comes off as harsh so what? That's what they get for not thinking before they speak. It's not like they didn't have plenty of time to do as such. What with you in full conversation domination mode.

3. You Got It. All of It

The waiter comes to the table to take your order. You think it would be a good idea to order for the two of you. So you do. Your date protests and you refer them back to number two. This kind of control freakery applies to everything. The date must always go according to the plan you have thought up. Any deviation (i.e. input from your date) will not be tolerated. Why can't they just accept that and save themselves the embarrassment of you pointing it out?

There are probably more shows like Disaster Date in the works. If the show is a hit you can bet that a number of television networks will follow suit with their own version with each one trying to outdo the other. If you have been following the steps listed above longer than you can remember, then by all means pitch your idea to the TV execs. They can always find room on the schedule.
